Workflow Integration and Solution Design — study note
Domain 4 of the Claude Certified Associate – Foundations exam (about 16% of scored items). Its five objectives ask you to:
- analyze requirements and use cases with Claude;
- use it for research, planning and process optimization;
- use it to support solution design and iteration;
- integrate it into existing workflows;
- communicate its value and limitations to stakeholders.
Analysis and research

| A demanding report | Make sure thinking is on, or ask Claude to plan before gathering |
| A recurring process to improve | House method: list the steps, mark duplication and waits, propose a leaner sequence, then check it with the people who run it |
| Many related questions | Plan the conversation: group them and give background upfront |
Research needs web search turned on, and whether you have it depends on your plan. It can use up limits faster than a normal chat, so keep it for questions that need many sources. Check the key citations before relying on a finding.

File creation and artifacts depend on the code execution and file creation setting; in organizations, owners can turn it off.
Integration

Communicating value and limits
- Value as outcomes: finished documents, synthesized research, work done on the team’s behalf.
- Limits in plain words: answers can be wrong or misleading, convincing quotes can be ungrounded, and knowledge has a cutoff.
- Safeguards, precisely: quotes and citations reduce hallucinations without eliminating them. Validate critical information.
